Jeremy Clarkson’s new pub spikes searches for Cotswolds town

Over August Bank Holiday weekend, news broke that Jeremy Clarkson’s latest venture, The Farmer’s Dog pub, had opened its doors. And while stories of long queues made up of eager would-be punters hit the headlines, it seems that many others headed to Rightmove instead.

The Farmers Dog

Rightmove spotted that lots more people were searching for homes for sale close to the pub in the days after the opening was announced. In fact, there was a 63% jump in the number of searches for the Cotswolds town of Burford (close to the pub’s village location of Asthall), over the August Bank Holiday weekend than we saw during the same period in 2023. The average house price in the town is £537,827: find Listed cottages filled with character, as well as unique detached homes dotted on the fringes of the bustling town centre.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a spike in searches connected to the famed TV personality, either. Rightmove also saw a similar trend last year around the time his eponymously named series, Clarkson’s Farm, hit our screens, with home-hunters looking to the farm’s location of Chadlington, also in the Cotswolds.

Rightmove’s property expert, Tim Bannister, says: “The Cotswolds will always inspire people to search and explore what living in one of its many areas of beauty could be like, and Jeremy Clarkson’s ventures have added further intrigue. Whether it’s to see what living next to his farm would be like, or planning the best route to the pub, people have headed straight to Rightmove to see homes for sale nearby.”
