If you're a first-time buyer looking for the right place to set down roots, Birmingham should definitely be on your radar. According to a recent study by property portal Rightmove, the Midlands city has been ranked among the UK’s top 10 most sought-after locations for first-time buyers in 2025.

Rightmove’s monthly House Price Index shows that average asking prices of new sellers coming to market have fallen by 1.7% this month, to £360,197. 

New analysis from the UK’s biggest property website Rightmove reveals that homeowners of five-bedroom properties who own outright could unlock a substantial cash pot by downsizing.

Average asking prices have remained stable overall and are still 0.4% higher than a year ago, despite a monthly dip. The average asking price of a home in Great Britain dropped by -£1,617 (-0.4%) to £373,493.
